Our client is a leading global construction management group.
They currently have a need for a Project Director with an operational and business development responsibility involving extensive travel within the Asia Pacific region in support of the Sr. Vice President for this region.
The successful candidate will be promoted to a Vice President in 1-2 years depending on performance.
The main duties include the following: · Operations: same as a Project Director Job Description (see below) in helping to start-up new projects.·
Business Development: attending conferences, manning exhibitions, preparing proposals and presentations, supporting global marketing efforts, supporting the preparation of monthly executive management reports, updating pipeline reports, interfacing with the company Global BD Team, coordinating and interfacing with joint venture or teaming partners, etc.·
HR & Admin: assist the Senior Vice President in new hire interviews and in resolving any personnel issues·
Commercial: assist the Senior Vice President in the following tasks: preparation/update of budgets and backlog reports, monitoring financial performance against budget, coordinating with legal and financial departments regarding contracts, bank guarantees, insurance policies and taxation issues. Qualifications: A degree in an Engineering or related professional discipline is required Post Graduate education such as a MSC or PHD is highly desired
A chartered certification such as PMP or similar is expected 20 or more years’ of experience of managing Multi- Million Dollar building and infrastructure projects in several Asian countries. Specific experience in Greater China and/or SE Asia is a great advantage.
Experience of negotiating commercial contracts to successful close out Ability to think ahead, identify new opportunities and create new and innovative approaches to work related issues Strong Management and communication
Demonstrates a determination, desire to succeed and a wish to progress and develop within a commercial role
Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel and strong user skill level within MS Office.Excellent numerical and communication skills
Oral and/or written communication skills in Mandarin Chinese is preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES: Communicate with the Client’s representatives continuously regarding Project Progress and areas of concerns. Propose in house Project Management procedure to comply with Contract requirements and Client’s procedures.Establish and maintain specific project procedures for Design/Construction Supervision Management (as applicable)Prepare special report to Client Management to investigate any problem related to the Scope of Services and recommend solutions to Client Management
Identify priorities and tasks and develop the organization structure to assure execution of tasks, by providing clear direction on methods, time frame and schedule to achieve the stated goals.Provide clear definition of roles and responsibilities of PM staff. Attend Executive meetings and progress meetings.Monitor performance to assure successful delivery of the Key Performance Indicators and client contractual requirements.
Advice the Client’s representative on any potential variation to the Design/Supervision Consultant and Contractor’s scope of work that may generate cost or time impact and present the Project Management’s assessment.Lead the Project Management staff in assessing variations and claims and report the technical position of the proposed variation to the Client.Advise the Client of any foreseen slippage of progress and propose corrective actions.
Review weekly and monthly reports as presented by Design/Supervision Consultant(s) and Contractor and present to the Client comments of non-compliance, and/or area of concern and corrective actions.
Coordinate with Design Manager during the detailed Design stage of the Project to ensure Design Compliance with Client requirement avoid any cost impact.
